Dr. Maria Anastasiadou

Biography

Dr Maria Anastasiadou is part of the Research Coordination Team and a Researcher at the Big Earth Data Analytics Department of ERATOSTHENES CoE. She earned her BSc in Physics from the University of Athens in 2009 and completed her MSc in Medical Physics at the University of Surrey, UK, in 2010. In 2011, she joined the KIOS Research Center at the University of Cyprus as a graduate-level researcher, focusing on epilepsy studies, multimodal seizure detection, and prediction. She successfully obtained her PhD in January 2017 from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Cyprus. Maria has received many awards and distinctions during her studies (BA and MSc), including the scholarship from Cyprus State Scholarships Foundation. Prior to joining the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence, Maria served as a Research Associate at the KIOS Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence, University of Cyprus, from 2017 to 2023, where she coordinated several high-profile research projects, secured funding of around 5 million euros from the European Union and the Cyprus Government and excelled in proposal writing for programs, such as Horizon Europe, H2020, Restart 2016-2020, RIF, DIGITAL, and INTERREG.
