Presentation of AVARIS/SMARTPLAIGO at Athens Digital Health Week 2026

The SMARTPLAIGO platform, led by the Eratosthenis Centre of Excellence, was presented during Athens Digital Health Week 2026 as part of the session “Telemedicine and Telecare in Practice: From Access to Integrated Care.” The project’s primary goals are to improve ambulance department response times and optimize the management of ambulance fleets.

The presentation showcased SMARTPLAIGO, together with the AVARIS project, developed by the eHealth Lab of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). AVARIS serves as the umbrella system managing all emergency calls of the Ambulance Department of the State Health Services Organisation, highlighting innovative technologies that support telemedicine, emergency response, and integrated healthcare services.

The session also provided an opportunity to discuss potential collaboration between key stakeholders, including the Greek National Emergency Aid Center (EKAB) represented by its council president Dr. Giorgos Charalambous, the Eratosthenis Centre of Excellence and the eHealth Lab of the Cyprus University of Technology represented by eHealth-Lab head Dr. Efthyvoulos Kyriacou, the Ambulance Department of the Cyprus State Health Services Organisation represented by its director Mrs. Riana Constantinou, as well as Stremble Ventures Ltd.

Such initiatives highlight the growing cross-border collaboration between Cyprus and Greece, advancing digital innovation in telemedicine, emergency response, and integrated healthcare services.
